Drop Off/Pick Up Change

PGMS Families,

In response to the near completion of Viney Grove Road south to Buchanan Street and the potential issues Northbound and Southbound traffic on this road may cause during arrival and dismissal, Prairie Grove Middle School is developing a new plan for car rider drop-off and pick-up. Please read below for information about this plan.

Beginning Monday April 29, 2024, car rider drop-off and pick-up is moving to the back side of PGMS.

Before 7:45, car riders must be dropped off in the unloading zone behind our building. Any students arriving after 7:45 must check-in tardy through the front office.

After 2:30, car riders must be picked up in the loading zone behind our building. The car rider line will not open until 2:30 - for safety reasons, please do not line up behind PGMS before then. Students leaving before 2:30 must check-out through the front office. Like PGES, PGMS will no longer allow students to check-out after 2:30.

When exiting the PGMS parking lot onto Bush, please turn right. Waiting to turn left will back up car rider traffic. After turning right, you will be able to drive North, East, or South at the four way stop at Bush and Viney Grove - if you need to head West from PGMS, please do so on Buchanan or Prairie Oaks, not Bush.

Bus riders will now unload and load in front of PGMS each morning and afternoon. To avoid impeding our buses, the loop in front of PGMS will be closed to thru traffic during arrival and dismissal.

All traffic related to school business (checking in students after 7:45, checking students out before 2:30, bringing an item to a student, meeting with a staff member, etc.) can be conducted using the loop in front of PGMS.

These changes to drop-off and pick-up procedures do not change any of our safety regulations. All visitors must enter PGMS through the front office doors, no matter what time of day it is.

Our North teacher parking lot is not for public use during the school day. Please use the parking spots in front of the building if you need to park on our campus while school is in session.

Additional staff and safety officers will be present to help with these changes during the week of April 29th. Additionally, there will be signage posted to help with these changes. If you have any questions about these procedures, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (479) 846-4220. Thank you!
