The Prairie Grove School District is proud to announce Alana Ashworth as the 2025 District Teacher of the Year! With 25 years of dedicated service—all in 5th grade and all within the walls of Prairie Grove—Mrs. Ashworth’s career is a testament to lifelong commitment, deep-rooted passion, and an unwavering belief in the power of education.
A true Tiger through and through, Mrs. Ashworth is a graduate of Prairie Grove High School, where she was valedictorian of her class, co-captain of the cheer team, class president, and student council president. She went on to earn her Master’s in Education from the University of Arkansas and returned home to give back to the very school district that shaped her.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Ashworth has taught Science, STEM, Math, Social Studies, and even Spelling—back when it was part of the 5th-grade curriculum. Her favorite part of teaching? “Seeing the growth of students over the course of a year or watching them have that ‘aha’ moment—it never gets old,” she says.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Mrs. Ashworth has taken on the role of teacher coach this year, mentoring other science teachers within her building and helping to elevate instructional practices across the grade level.
She is also a proud parent of two PG students, making her not just a leader in the classroom but an invested member of the school community.
Prairie Grove is honored to celebrate Mrs. Ashworth’s decades of excellence, leadership, and heart. Congratulations to a truly deserving educator! 🐾🍎🎉
