What is Arkansas Public School Choice?

Arkansas Public School Choice allows students in kindergarten through 12th grade to attend a public school district other than the one in which they live, subject to state law and district capacity. This option is available to families seeking the academic programs, culture, and community offered by Prairie Grove School District.

Application Window

The Prairie Grove School District will accept School Choice applications from January 1st to June 1st each year.

The School Choice application must be submitted to your home district, and then it will be forwarded to the non-resident district by the designated person from the PGSD.
With this extended window of June 1st, parents have the opportunity to apply early and, once accepted, the child may begin attending immediately upon approval and completion of enrollment, OR parents may wait and enroll their child for the fall semester.

Completed School Choice applications can be emailed to district.registration@pgtigers.org.

The preferred method is to submit the application by email.
Once a student is approved and enrolled through the School Choice process, that student can stay enrolled in the Prairie Grove School District until graduation, as long as the student remains in good standing and follows the district policies.
The district reserves the right to deny new applications based on capacity limits established by the Prairie Grove Board of Education and state regulations.

The Public School Choice Act of 2015, Ark. Code Ann. § 6-18-1903. A public school choice program is established to enable a student in kindergarten through grade twelve (12) to attend a school in a nonresident district, subject to the limitations under Ark. Code Ann. § 6-18-1906 and the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Rules Governing the Public School Choice Act of 2015.

Resident/Non-Resident § 6-18-1902 “Resident District” means the school district in which the student resides, as determined by § 6-18-202.
